THIS IS NOT A FINISHED PRODUCT, BUT A DO-IT-YOURSELF KIT WITH LEATHER AND TOOLS. THE TUTORIAL IS INCLUDED IN DIGITAL FORMAT (VIDEO + PDF + PATTERS)

"The Base" tutorial is about how to make your own patterns for leather moccasins and boots in over 10 different styles.

This leather and tool KIT is appropriate to make any of the low moccasins demonstrated in the tutorial. You will receive large pieces of leather that you will have to cut according to your size.

To see videos about the different styles that are covered by this tutorial, please see our Vimeo channel : https://vimeo.com/earthingmoccasins

The Kit includes :
- A piece of very high quality bull leather for one pair of LOW MOCCASINS (the simple base or low moccasins with laces)
- 2 saddle needles with round tips
- 1 awl for easily making holes by hand
- 1 belt punch of 3 mm in diameter
- waxed thread in sufficient quantity for one pair.

This tutorial is particularly interesting for people that want to grow in skill and in creativity in the art of moccasin-making, as well as for anyone that has a "special" kind of feet and needs a custom-made pattern to best suit their needs.

It is both accessible for beginners and experienced ones in the craft.

This extensive tutorial covers:
- Pattern-making directly from the feet. You will be enabled to make patterns for all sizes and shapes of feet.
- How to make variations for Low moccasins, Ankle Boots, Low Boots, and High Boots with or without tassels, buttons, and/or laces.
- How to make soles in leather or rubber
- How to line them up with a warm inner layer
- Specificities about making Baby and Kids' moccasins

You will learn how to make "the Base" moccasins, which is a side-seam low moccasin, on which you can make over 10 kinds of variations that I demonstrate how to make in detail.

The tutorial is divided into small video sections from 5 to 30 minutes long on average, that you will be able to watch and replay as many times as you want and at your own rhythm.

Videos can be watched online or downloaded to watch them offline too.

After purchase, you will gain access to the video course email within 1 to 24 hours.

What are Moccasins?

They are soft-soled shoes or barefoot shoes. Made of 100% leather, they act and feel just like a second skin.

They will well protect your feet from sharp objects, dirt, etc.; while at the same time allowing you to feel the ground’s texture.

They are suitable for where indoors and outdoors, although they will need to be re-soled once in a while for durability.

We offer extra rubber or leather for soling as an option:

What are Moccasins ?

Moccasins are:

  • 100% in leather
  • zero-drop minimalist shoes
  • respectful of one's morphology
  • extremely soft and comfortable
  • durable
  • versatile and all-terrain
  • unisex and casual
  • handmade

Materials

We work with the most prestigious quality of bull-calf leather from France.
It stands out for its natural aspect, its soft and
waxy touch
but mostly for its softness, and thickness at the
same time.
This leather is very comfortable and safe to wear
on the skin.
If well-taken care of with resoling and leather care, it
can withstand years of intensive wear.

Dimensions

Kit for Low Moccasins:
+- 38 x 60 cm / 15" to 23.5"

Care information

Can be dry-cleaned with a soft brush or with a wet cloth. Make sure the
shoes are drying quickly and thoroughly if they got wet. You can hang them on a
line for instance.

Regularly nourish the leather with a leather
balm or leather lotion.

They can be resoled with leather or thin compact rubber
sheets
to keep the barefoot feel of the moccasins. Soles are simply glued
and can be renewed as many times as needed. A tutorial on this topic is
included in all our moccasins tutorials.
